I rarely venture into the Land of Toleration Nation (hereafter to be T.N.), but right now I am not only a citizen of T.N., but someone has given me the key to the city as well.ugh.
For the record to tolerate (in our case) means to: submit to, or to put up with
what.a.sucky.word.=tolerate
Part of the issue with toleration (yes I made that word up…the perks of running this joint) is that it sneaks up on you if you are not vigilant about making sure you are not straying into T.N territory.
Toleration wears you down…much like a piece of sandpaper rubbing against wood. Initially you don’t see the damage, but it keeps growing and growing and before you know it you have a huge pile of wood dust on the floor.
The things we tolerate can be as little as a broken zipper on your jacket or being late, or as big as a troubled relationship…along with all the stuff that fits in between: an overflowing inbox, piles of papers on your desk, messy rooms, a business that is struggling…you get the idea.
And.we.become.numb.
Because we think..”eh, is it really so bad?” “I can put up with this for now”
You are draining your juice darlin’… you can’t get your mojo on when you’re worried about your car being a mess.
Here’s your road map for getting out of T.N.
Write down everything (I mean lay it out there) that you are tolerating in all areas (work, home, relationships, health) of your life. Make.the.list. As you look at these things what can you start eliminating or doing something about?
Socks with holes in ’em? Toss ’em
Messy desk? Get it organized
Projects not finished? Make a plan
Not eating properly? Start buying healthier foods
Now not everything on your list is easily solved; I’m not suggesting that just writing the tolerations down will make them magically disappear. But they are now out in the open and you’d be truly amazed at how solutions start to present themselves as you start to work through the smaller stuff.
My mojo has been in a funk because of what I’ve been tolerating lately and it’s time to beat feet out of Toleration Nation…won’t you join me?
What are you tolerating? Ready to become an escapee of Toleration Nation?
