Sometimes.you.just.can’t.make.it.fit.
I’m sure you remember the story of Cinderella…and more particularly when Cindy’s uberwicked stepsissies tried to make the shoe fit.
I specifically remember the one sister cramming her ginormous foot into the tiny shoe and saying “I’ll make it fit!!” and the shoe boinging off her foot.
I believe there’s even a darker version where one of the desperate sisters cuts off her big toe in order to make the shoe fit…ouchy.
Sometimes life is the glass slipper…the glass slipper effect I call it.
Have you ever tried to make “life’s shoe” fit your “life foot”?
Trying to force circumstances or situations to fit your life foot ends up being excruciating…and exhausting.
I have been reminded of the glass slipper effect the last several weeks. I’ve had some circumstances that I feel I have been trying to force to fit and it’s been, well…ouchy.big.ouchy.
ouchy
So what do you do when you feel the glass slipper effect?
When you seem to be trying to shoehorn yourself into a life shoe, but it’s downright painful…
Here are a couple of strategies and questions that I like to use/ask and you may find helpful too:
Ask yourself WHY Am I Doing This? Is it something that you really want, are you being influenced by other people, circumstances, or your own beliefs (remember…you are not really your mind).
Dig.deep.
Locate the resistance. Where is it coming from? Is it true?
Release the resistance and see what happens next.
What are the feelings I want to have regarding this situation?
Is it possible that this ‘shoe’ is not meant to fit me?
Are there alternative or more comfortable ‘shoes’ I could wear instead?
Is this ‘shoe’ draining my energy or adding to it?
Remember that only you can figure out and know whether or not the shoe fits you. Your life should fit you like a beautiful shoe…well designed, can go the distance, and represent who you really are.
wow. did you write this for me? wow!
If it’s something that resonated with you…then it’s quite possible I did Rita 😉
A pleasure to connect with you
Warmly,
Danielle
