As always, at this time of year our thoughts naturally turn to the New Year ahead and the clean slate we have in front of us (isn’t it gorgeous?).
And as always, it’s the time of resolutions.
According to the US Government the same resolutions tend to get trotted out year after year.
We resolve to:
Drink less alcohol
Eat healthy food
Get a better education
Get a better job
Lose weight
Manage debt
Manage stress
Quit smoking
Reduce, reuse, recycle
Save money
Take a trip
Volunteer to help others
Any of these ring any bells for you? Any of them that you see year after year on your resolution list?
There’s also the idea of choosing a word, theme, or a phrase that will represent the coming year for you.
Example Themes:
Growth
Transformation
Simplify
Consistency
Go Bigger
Action
Freedom
I like the idea of themes. I have been doing that the last few years. The great thing about themes is that it can be an affirmation for you. You can write it out and post it where you will see it every day…nice.
BUT
I’d like to propose one other option for the coming year and that is to simply ask yourself one question:
How do I want to feel?
What are the feelings you’d like to have more of in 2012?
Here are mine:
Fulfillment
Excitement
Energized
Confident
Enthusiasm
What are the activities that will create those feelings?
Writing A Book
Speaking/Conducting Workshops
Traveling
Coaching/Strategizing with amazing clients
Connecting with like minded people
