During a recent conversation with a colleague and dear friend about evolving both personally and professionally she asked me,
“So how big do you want to go?”
Initially I thought (and immediately said)
“you know dude…BIG”
as in”big” meant bigger numbers, bigger exposure, bigger credibility, bigger authority…you know…BIG.
She said, “I can help you do that, but my intuition doesn’t think that that’s what you really want.”
hmmmmm…
We continued our conversation and after we hung up I looked over my doodles (helps me think) and reflected on her comment.
and after that initial response, I realized that the question has a lot more weight behind it than I realized. Not that it is complicated, just that there are more layers to think about.
Because the next question is
What does BIG look like…to ME?
One of my super powers and values relies on connection and having a business that is nimble.
The level of bigness that immediately came to mind does not equate nimble…or connection at the levels that allow me to work at my best.
PLAYING BIG to me:
allows me to fully play in my zone of genius
allows me to grow to capacity not overwhelm
gives me space to enjoy what is important to me
gives me opportunities to connect with like minded people
honors my values, and
is more about leaning into opportunities and serendipity rather than trying to pull it in by force
Anything else is unacceptable at this point.
Small is the new Big (for me anyway)
What does BIG look like for you?
If you need some help finding that out I invite you to join me for 30 Days to Bare Your Brand and we’ll fully define what your BIG looks like (and have fun doing it!)
