I feel compelled to blog about Twitter and some general observations and thoughts based on my experiences using it over the past 4 months. I’m putting this in the form of a “Dear Twitterer” (tongue-in-cheek) letter….:)
Dear Twitter Friend:
Thank you for following me. I hope you find my 140 characters interesting enough to hold your attention and for you to interact with me. Please be assured that I will not spam you when I send you a response to you following me. I also will not send you an automated reply, but will reply in person directly when I receive notification that you are following me. If you live on the other side of the world I may not respond right away as I do take a break from Twitter to sleep, buy groceries, take a shower, and try to live some parts of my life away from it (admittedly a challenge at times)!
I’m not sure how you came to find me on Twitter…maybe you did a keyword search and a word from my filled out 1 line bio caught your attention or popped up in your search. I have tried to fill my bio line with my interests and words that I identify with myself to help you decide whether or not to follow me.
Maybe it was the picture of me that is posted on my bio; perhaps I looked like someone you might want to get to know. I know that I always like to see a picture of the person I’m following; helps to make a connection with you and makes you more real to me:)
Perhaps it was my posts that you found interesting as you looked at my profile. I love fun conversations with others; learning from others and hopefully reciprocating and passing along some value as well. Please feel free to call me by my first name as it is listed in my profile (I was using a screen name for a time, but still had my first name listed in my profile); it makes it easier to converse with each other.
In closing, I look forward to getting to know you, exchanging thoughts and ideas and developing a relationship with you…
All the best,
Danielle
P.S. Please take this in the spirit it was written: in fun and let me know if you find all the hints and tips (6) I gently inserted regarding relationship marketing!
The dreaded automated reply… uuughh! I always squirm just a little when I get those. Got one today that was a little more real sounding, but automated just as well. Funny thing was he had a couple of typoes in it.
Great letter.
Awesome post Danielle! For sure, drives me nuts when people do a mass twitter-roll-call. Ever notice how it starts with one and then suddenly everyone’s doing it? LOL. Love your writing style, cheeky and funny haha. And so bang ON. Cheers!
Great post! I agree. I wrote an article about twitter, too. If you wanna see it, you can do so here: http://tinyurl.com/4jokke I would love to hear your thoughts, too.
I just added you. Found you through a retweet of this page.
peace,

Very good letter for @ihenpecked to remember. Because of this, I will go update my bio which seems a little sparse.
Danielle, bonjour… I see that your blog source file has “nofollow”. You’ll get more back links if you can get that changed to “dofollow” ;o)
