On a daily basis we are berated, harangued, scolded, and admonished over what we are doing wrong.
Mistakes we are making
Things we should be doing (implying that if you are not doing it; then you suck)
Things we should not be doing (implying that if you are doing it; then you suck)
What we are failing at
What we should never do (the consequences are dire)
People we don’t even know are telling us this stuff…and let’s not even discuss our Little Mean Girl Inner Critic
Basically, we’re reminded on how we are royally screwing things up.
It’s a wonder we’re able to get out of bed in the morning
Coming from an educational background, it’s kinda in my DNA to focus on what is going right rather than what’s going wrong (or you can just call me a Pollyanna who is wearing her rose-colored glasses sitting on her unicorn eating skittles…whatev)
In the spirit of focusing on the good, this post is not about what you’re doing wrong, but rather what you’re doing right with your brand and branding (because you, of course, know that brand and branding are not the same thing).
So here it is, just a few things that you are doing awesomely with your Brand.
You Have a Strong Internal Compass
You’re not out to please everyone, nor do you try. You are not out to be all things to all people
You don’t hide your values, beliefs, or opinions because you know that to do so dilutes the essence of who you are and what you stand for.
You have a clear understanding of your value and you’re not afraid of people seeing that. Not in a boastful way, but in a clear, confident position that identifies you as someone who knows her sh*t…and isn’t afraid to use it.
You Aren’t Following the Crowd
You have developed a level of discernment over what works for you and what doesn’t.
You know this because you have made a ton of mistakes (you don’t need someone to tell you that) and you have learned from them.
You do a spectacular job of staying in your lane and focusing on running your race.
You have a coach or mentor who ‘gets’ you, but you also listen to your intuition and embrace that no one is the expert of you… but you
You Have A Consistent Voice + Vibe
You have clearly identified the Voice and Vibe of your Brand and you are comfortable in that knowledge.
Your boundaries are clear and you communicate your unique style.
You know you don’t have to be ‘loud’ in order to be heard.
You don’t worry about imitators or copycats because no one can do what you do.period.
You consider it a high compliment when someone meets you in person and says “You are exactly the same as you are online”.
You’re Focused On Doing the Work
You recognize that you and your brand will grow and evolve over time.
You know that by doing the work you will become infinitely better at it
Sometimes the work is hard, but at the end of the day it always feels rewarding and fulfilling
You’re not trying to make your weaknesses better, but instead you continually hone your strengths
You Understand What Makes Your Right People Tick
You have clearly identified who your Right People are
You know what they are thinking and feeling
You communicate your understanding and empathy in your Voice
You have found the intersection between your language and your Right People’s language
Your Right People feel validated and valued when you communicate with them
You never refer to them as a ‘niche’ or ‘target market’
Look at you, look at you. Just look at all of the things you are doing ‘right’ with your brand.
You should feel mighty good about you and your business today.
You keep rockin’ on with your awesomeness…it shows.
