The purpose of your brand is to make you the only choice for your dream clients and customers. As such, it deserves your time and care so that it’s the hardest-working asset in your business.
In other words, your brand should be so irresistible that you cut through the noise of everyone else in your niche to be heard loud and clear.
But the elusive question is how…how exactly do you do this?
Here are my top 5 tips on building a magnetic, irresistible, and trustworthy brand…and they’re all free.
- Be Seen.
Yes, you need to show your face. I know it can be difficult and it takes a level of vulnerability that is uncomfortable, but the more you do it, the easier it becomes. People want to do business with people, not some faceless logo or business name. Can you have those? Of course you can, but those don’t create human connections and relationships.
- Narrow your niche.
Remember, when you try to be everything to everyone you end up appealing to no one. This is one of the biggest problems I see personal brands and solopreneurs bump up against. You have to draw a line in the sand and decide what you want to do and who is it going to be for.
Which is a perfect segue to my next tip…
- What, exactly, do you want to be known for?
Many times, people see a big name or influencer who seems to be doing and selling all kinds of things. Here’s why: They started out by being known for one thing, built their audience around that, and since they have a larger audience, they can start to be broader in what they offer.
Rachael Ray started out with 30 minute meals, Lewis Howes started out as a LinkedIn marketer, Martha Stewart started as a caterer…see where I am going with this?
- Who is a good fit for your work and what you do?
This is not just about demographics, but psychographics, and knowing your right people better than they know themselves. When you get that specific, you can’t help but be the only choice for your ideal clients and customers. It’s a win-win for everyone.
- Be inspiring.
This last one may be a bit of a surprise, but we all want people to look up to and inspire us to keep going. This doesn’t mean you have to be perfect, in fact, showing your mistakes and imperfections will only make you more inspiring because you are committed to your vision. And that is incredibly inspiring!
