One of the biggest hue and cries right now is “Find Your Passion and Do What You Love”…(and honestly, I’ve said it countless times myself!) And it’s sound advice, obviously if you’re doing what you love to do everyday, you’ll experience more, joy, happiness and fulfillment, right?
Well, here’s something I’ve noticed with myself and many, many women. We have LOTS of things we’re passionate about and love to do! For instance, one of my other passions is entertaining and I’m a total wine and foodie (which you may have figured out by now:-) ).
Right now I’m in the process of putting together a Valentine Day party with an idea that I think will be fabulous…a “sweet and savory” party. The idea is that everyone will bring a type of chocolate (sweet) and an appetizer (savory) along with a bottle of wine that pairs with both. FUN! I really love throwing a party, it’s a creative outlet that I thrive on and I feel in the “zone” when planning the theme of the party, the food, the music, the entertainment…I absolutely love it.
I also absolutely love coaching and teaching…and volleyball, and traveling, and reading, gardening, and…you get the idea! Which leads me to B.Y.O.B~Bring Your Own Brilliance. I think most of us have grown up with the idea of being “well rounded”; we were supposed to be able to a lot of things well. When I was younger I went through my share of skating lessons, gymnastics, dance, guitar…all things that had I committed to, I would have had passion for. And so we end up with many different things that we like to do and sometimes the passion develops from there.
Sometimes we fall into a passion that we didn’t expect. When I went back to college, I originally enrolled through a nursing school…but when I started working with children and families, I found that I loved the teaching and counseling more than the medical aspect and switched majors. Sometimes a particular experience or circumstance can ignite an interest which leads to a passion.
So when considering what your passion is, I’d like you to think about the skills, abilities, and values…i.e. your particular brilliance that you have that you are passionate about sharing.
When you B.Y.O.B. ~ Bring Your Own Brilliance that’s when you find the passion! What skills or abilities do you currently have that can lead to a particular passion?
