Limitation, Liability….or Opportunity?

Blog

As a dedicated student in the Law Of Attraction, I try to find the positive in any situation (now sometimes, I really have to LOOK and it doesn’t always present itself in neon lights; but given time, I can always find one).

I find myself challenged by this in the past week as I have had to have surgery on my hand.  For the next 2 weeks, I have it swaddled from the tips of my fingers to my elbow, oh and it’s my dominant hand!  After that it’s on to a hard cast for a month and then a brace and therapy…AND then surgery on my ankle.

So have I had some brief moments of pity for myself as I tried to write a check today at the grocery store, as I tried (in vain) to blowdry my hair and go about my daily activities, as I am unable to play my beloved volleyball and workout as I normally do??  Of course, BUT in the grand scheme of my life, this is a blip on the radar screen…a temporary detour in the life I normally lead.

So what are the positives??  Well, obviously I can’t move at the speed I normally do and so I am more deliberate in my writing (thank goodness for spellcheck!)  I’m also forced to eat more slowly (with a spoon); so that is a great dietary tool!  I’m homebound more at the moment, so it’s a good time to organize papers, work on my website, and take care of some chores that I have been putting off.  I’m grateful to have a skilled surgeon who assures me that I will regain full use of my thumb when I was to the point where I couldn’t even squeeze the shampoo bottle.

I use this example to remind you that everyone’s experiences as they journey through life are a matter of perspective.  What may seem like a catastrophe to some, may be but a minor inconvenience to others.  Having worked with individuals who are dealing with lifelong limitations and barriers (and smiling!); I am reminded about the power of gratitude and the power of positive thinking.

Take a moment and be grateful.  Be grateful for the unique abilities and perspectives that you bring to the table; use them to create the life you want.

All the best…

Danielle
