OK, did the title get your attention?! I hope so because it’s an important topic, although not for the reasons you think!
My lovely daughter just turned 18 and as we were talking about being
“that age”, she asked me if she was now allowed to curse in front of
me…(wh, wh, whhaaattt?!) Now I should clarify here that we don’t sit
around the dinner table dropping the “f bomb” or sprinkling profanities
as we chat about our day; however her father and I aren’t saints either
and we have been known to be a little salty with our language at times
🙂
“Yea, I don’t think so my friend”, I replied…(now I’m NOT naive
enough to think that she doesn’t use profanity, but she doesn’t need to
do it in front of her mother!). As I was pondering this new adventure
in parenting, I started to think about the term the “f word” and how it
can take on many meanings in many contexts.
In the quest to own a business there are many “f words” that can
strike terror in our hearts! I’d like to share with you what the “f
word” means to me and how it may relate to your experiences as well.
FEAR-To me that’s the biggest “f word” in home based business
opportunities, network marketing and mlm. Fear can be a paralyzing
issue for many people. Fear of the unknown, fear of losing job
security, fear of losing money, fear of not being successful (whatever
your definition is of that), fear of making mistakes. Fear also leads
to more “f words”….
FAILURE-Nobody wants to fail; although sometimes that can be
the most valuable lesson we can ever learn. What constitutes a failure
for one person may just be a bump in the road for another. Negativity
from others may lead us to feelings of failure and insecurity.
FOOLISH-Nobody wants to appear foolish or appear to be taken
advantage of, and let’s face it, there is alot of misinformation and
misconceptions about our industry. Doing your due diligence and
researching opportunities thoroughly will make you a more informed
entrepreneur; and you will be more likely to stick with a business
because it is a good match and fit for you.
FUNDING- For many people, it comes down to parting with your
hard earned money. What many people fail to put into perspective is
that you are embarking on a business venture. I’m always amazed when
people I talk to say, “Well that’s a lot of money”…really, for a
legitimate business opportunity that has the potential to bring you
significant income IF you TREAT IT AS A BUSINESS!? If you don’t, then I can’t help you; you are setting yourself up for FAILURE.
OK, that’s enough of the bad “f words” …let’s talk about some of my favorite “f words”!
FUTURE- I love this word because it offers endless
possibilities. I see all sorts of wonderful things in my future
because I believe it will happen. The future offers new starts, new
adventures, the opportunity to expand your world and your mind, and it
gives you the opportunity to realize your dreams.
FEELINGS-How do you feel as you think about the future? Does
your attitude influence your thinking? Of course it does! Do you feel
like an empowered, optimistic, positive person? Throwing in a little
bit of Law of Attraction here…it works! Surround yourself with
people who have positive, upbeat feelings of success…it WILL make a
difference!
FREEDOM-I love this word too. What kind of freedom do you
seek? Is it the freedom of time and knowing that having your own
business gives you that freedom? Is it freedom of financial burdens
because you have applied yourself, worked hard and are now reaping the
fruits of your labor? What is great about freedom is that it means
different things to different people, but is a powerful motivator for
you to use in creating success for yourself.
Think about your “f words” and how they influence your
thinking…which ones have power over you? I hope it’s the positive
ones and if not, hopefully this post has caused you to evaluate your “f
words” a little more closely!
All the best to you…
