Last month I got a new tattoo.
If you have followed me for any length of time, you know the story of my daughter almost dying back in June due to complications from childbirth (if you missed it, it’s a pretty amazing story of strength and determination).
At the time, we had so much support and prayers from friends, family, and strangers…it was incredible. During all of this, a hashtag was born called #BrieStrong as I kept people updated on how she was doing via social media.
It was also during all of this that my husband declared he would get a tattoo in honor of our strong daughter and the experience we went through as a family. And speaking of family, why not make it a family affair tattoo?!
And so we did…my daughter-in-law and I got the same tattoo in the same place (I also added Brienne’s spirit animal-a bear) and Ben’s is the same (except in a much more manly font!) and on his chest.
So what does a tattoo and a Brand have in common?
People generally get tattoos because of a particular symbol, image, saying, etc., that has a deep meaning for them. So much so that they are willing to have it permanently inked into their skin.
My husband never got a tattoo before because he could never find something that he felt so strongly about that he wanted it there forever…until the week of June 14, 2016, changed that.

“BrieStrong” has a strong emotional meaning for us; it’s a reminder of how hard our girl fought to survive and what we as a family went through during that time. It’s a message of hope, faith, love, and strength.
