Events and conferences are amazing.
The synergy from connecting with like-minded people, learning new strategies and techniques, viewing material with a new lens and perspective…there’s just something about live events that cannot be matched.
And then you return home…
Suddenly those strategies that seemed simple and doable now seem hard and overwhelming.
Mind you, this has nothing to do with the quality of the event. The event I was just at was fantastic at helping participants walk away with a solid plan to help their businesses.
The problem is that the 200 other attendees and the hosts of the event did not get packed into your carry-on and come home with you.
So now it’s just you, the worksheets, the notes you’ve frantically scribbled over the course of 3 days, and that oh-so-helpful (not) gremlin voice in your head hindering you from taking any action.
yikes
So how do you get your motivation mojo back and get results?
1. Stay connected with some of your new business besties/soul mates. *This is for you, lovely Networker/Angel Archetypes
There are always 3-4 people that you really connect with at an event/conference. Ask if they would be interested in helping to keep each other accountable in implementing what you’ve learned. Set aside a dedicated weekly time to check in with each other. This is not a mastermind group, but rather a way to keep yourself moving forward and cheer each other on.
2. Hold on tight to your dream. Yes, I just quoted an ELO lyric. *Alchemist Archetypes, take heed
Why are you doing this work?
Create a vision board that encapsulates your WHY…both personally and professionally. Have an image of an ideal client that you know you can impact? Put that on the vision board. Want to speak from the stage to impact thousands…put that on the vision board. Do you dream of a certain lifestyle for you and your family…put that on the vision board. Who do you love that will be impacted by the dream you have…put their beautiful faces on your vision board.
Now post that sucker where you will see it every.single.day.
3. You’re going to fail. There I said it. There’s no getting around it, but there are ways to get through it. *I’m looking at you, Sage Archetypes
You will have programs that will flop, blog and social media posts that will get crickets, and times when you want to give up (generally that’s about 64 times a day). It is inevitable as an entrepreneur/personal brand. It’s how you approach failure that really counts.
What if you changed the lens of what was a perceived failure?
In other words…hmmm…..that didn’t work that way I wanted, what can I do differently next time? Carol Dweck, noted Stanford University Professor and author calls this a “growth mindset” and it is imperative that you cultivate it as a coach or
Knowing your data and adjusting as necessary is the key to success, not failure.

4. Pursue excellence, not perfection. *I see you, beautiful Creator Archetypes
Good enough is good enough…for now. I see this all the time with product development, brand development, website development…the perfection waiting game I call it.
While you’re waiting, waiting, waiting for “it” to be perfect, your peers and colleagues are out there doing the work, learning, course correcting, and defining their success…and you’re still waiting for perfection before you put anything out in the world.
Ask yourself one question: Will this (insert whatever ‘this’ is) make a difference right now for my Right People?
If you answered yes, get it out in the world and serve your tribe.
5. Take time to recharge. *Hello, my tireless Sovereigns/Heroines
You are on a mission and not nobody or nothing is going to get in your way…except yourself.
Pushing yourself hard is one thing, burning yourself out is another. You will do your best work when you take time to recharge your energy…even if you derive much of your energy from your work, you still need a break from it. Give your beautiful brain a rest and have mindless fun, relax and enjoy the ride.
Applying these 5 tips will help keep your motivation strong, your energy up, and your work more playful and relaxed. Remember, an aligned Brand is a profitable Brand.
