There is one thing that I have found that every successful Brand has…and it’s not the sexiest of things that you normally associate with a Brand; but it is found in every successful Brand, bar none.
It’s not:
A beautifully designed logo
A catchy tagline
A responsive website
Your Brand Vibe or your Brand Voice
The imagery you use
Your platform, message, or positioning
It’s simply this:
CONSISTENCY
How very un-glamourous and un-fun right?
This week in a Facebook group I am in, it was Tip Tuesday and I posted the following:
“Consistency is one of the most crucial things you can in order to have the business you desire. So many times I see someone start something, do it for a few weeks and then bail on it. Just because you don’t see immediate results, doesn’t mean something won’t work. Traction takes time, focus, and consistency. “
Now I don’t typically quote myself, but this post resonanted with a lot of people and it got a bunch of likes and comments.
Why?
Because the fact of the matter is that consistency in doing specific actions will yield results.
This can be a struggle for you Creators and Alchemists out there (as an Alchemist, it was for me). Creators tend to start and stop projects and that can hinder your progress. Alchemists tend to be visionaries and big-picture people who get bogged down in the daily actions that get results. Both archetypes struggle when results don’t come quickly enough for them and staying the course is a challenge.
So this looks like:
Starting and stopping blogging
Putting something out on social media, hearing crickets, and bailing
Doing one or two videos and deciding it’s a pain
Hosting a webinar every 6 months
Emailing your community sporadically
aaaand much more…
In full transparency, I’ve listed the ones I’ve been guilty of over the last 6 years…ouch.
Here’s one of the most important lessons I have learned in having my own business:
Consistency rules
It’s not terribly sexy when the blinking cursor is taunting you and you can’t think of a word to write
It’s not fun when you post something and no one is paying attention
It’s not glamorous to spend evenings into early mornings working on great content
It’s not cocktail hour when you pour your heart and soul into creating webinars that provide value
It’s frustrating when you think your husband thinks you’re just playing on your computer
BUT
it is worth it
because consistency matters to your Brand and your business.
Consistency is also important in your Brand representing you and not a pale imitation of someone else.
